ENGINEERING CONSIDERATIONS (NOT FOR FIELD REPRESENTATIVE USE):

USR/CNR indicates that the products were investigated under the U.S. and Canadian Standards for Temperature Indicating And Regulating Equipment, UL 873, Eleventh Edition and CSA C22.2 No. 24-93, respectively.

Use - For use only in products where the acceptability of the combination is determined by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.

Conditions Of Acceptability - When used in the end-product equipment, the following are among the considerations to be made:

1. An acceptable enclosure shall be provided.

2. The quick-connect style terminals are not acceptable for field connection

3. The devices shall be mounted in such a manner that these will be prevented from turning with respect to their mounting surface by means other than friction alone.

4. The devices have been tested for 100,000 cycles of endurance.

5. For model XWX-WK-03A and XWX-WK Series, the endurance test was conducted at 6 cycles per min.  For model WK-T, the endurance test was conducted at 6 cycles per minute for the first 75,000 cycles and 1 cycle per minute for the rest 25,000 cycles.

*6. The adjustment stop mechanisms for all models in XWX-WK series, Model XWX-WK-03A and model WK-T have been tested for a maximum knob diameter of 2.4 inch (60mm).

*7. The tip over mechanism, including the PC Plate and the Hammer, of model WK-T is not evaluated.  Reliability of its operation should be judged in the application.

*8. All terminals employed by the thermostats, other than Quick Connect Terminals, need to be evaluated in the end product to determine suitability.

Construction Details:

The products shall be constructed in accordance with the following description.

Corrosion Protection - Ferrous metal parts are protected against corrosion by painting, plating, or the equivalent.

Spacings - Minimum spacings of 1.6 mm (1/16 inch) are maintained between any uninsulated live part and an uninsulated live part of opposite polarity and an uninsulated grounded dead metal part.

 Marking - All markings are either permanently ink-stamped, silk-screened, or provided on a Recognized Component Marking and Labeling System (PGDQ2) suitable for application to the surface involved.  Marking shall consist of the Recognized Company name or Trademark or File Number and model designation.  Electrical ratings are optional.

  Thermostat, Model XWX-WK-03A FIG. 1 (C0004044.P00)

 General - Shows the assembled view of thermostat, model XWX-WK-03A. ILL. 1 (C0005738.I00) shows detailed dimensions.

1. Adjusting Screw - Brass, overall 3 mm OD, 8.0 mm long, threaded to Shaft

2. Shaft - Brass, overall 6.0 mm OD, 20.5 mm long, threaded to Top Plate.

3. Cam - Steel, 1.2 mm thick.  Overall measures 10 mm OD, 6.5 mm ID with a 2.6 mm by 2.2 mm integral tab serving as the knob stop.

4. Top Plate - Steel, 1.5 mm thick, overall 13 mm by 31 mm, with integral threaded part to secure Shaft and an integral stud 4 mm by 6.4 mm to serve as Cam stop, 5.8 mm ID hole at opposite end to secure Eyelet.

5. Pin - Ceramic, 3 mm OD, 11.5 mm long, held in place between Shaft and Short Spring.

6. Insulator Rings - Ceramic, three provided, 12.5 mm OD, 8.3 mm ID.  Two rings measure 4 mm thick, the other measures 3 mm thick.

7. Terminals - Plated steel, two provided, each 0.8 mm thick, overall 24.2 mm long.  Quick connector part measures 4.7 mm wide by 7.3 m long.  Integral ring measures 12 mm OD, 8.3 mm ID to engage Sleeve.

8. Lung Spring - Stainless steel, 0.3 mm thick, overall 36.1 mm by 12 mm with 2.4 mm ID hole for Pin and 8.3 mm ID hole to engage sleeve.

9. Contacts - Silver alloy, consisting of 12% silver and 88% Ad.  Two provided, each overall 4.0 mm OD, and 0.7 mm thick.

10. Short Spring - Stainless steel, 0.2 mm thick, overall 22.3 mm by 12 mm with 2.4 mm ID hole for Pointer. Supports one contact

11. Pointer - Ceramic, overall 3 mm OD, 10.4 mm long, secured into the hole on Bimetal by glue.

12. Stationary Contact Arm - Steel, 0.6 mm thick.  Overall measures 18 mm by 12 mm with a 8.3 mm ID hole to engage Sleeve.  Support one contact.

13. Bimetal - Manufactured by Foshan Electrical Precision Alloy Co. Ltd., 0.8 mm thick, overall 35 mm by 12 mm tapers to 6 mm.  Provide with a 7 mm ID hole at one end to engage Eyelet, and a 2 mm ID hole at the other end to engage Pointer .

14. Eyelet - Plated steel, 5.6 mm OD, 4.2 mm ID, 19 mm long, with integral 1 mm thick by 12 mm OD. lip at one end to support Bimetal, edge at opposite end press fit to Top Plate.

XWX-WK-01, as shown in FIG. 1A and ILL. 1A, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A except for the shape and/or dimension of the Adjusting Screw, Contacts, Terminals, Cam and Top Plate.  The adjusting screw measures 6.1 mm long.  The Contacts measure 4.8 mm OD.  The shape and dimension of the Cam is as shown in ILL. 1A1.

XWX-WK-02, as shown in FIG. 1B and ILL. 1B, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A except for the shape and/or dimension of the Adjusting Screw, Terminals, Top Plate and Cam.  The Adjusting Screw measures 6.1 mm long.  The shape and dimension of the Cam is as shown in ILL. 1B1.

XWX-WK-03, as shown in FIG. 1C and ILL. 1C, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A except for the shape and/or dimension of the Adjusting Screw, Contacts, Terminals, Cam and Top Plate.  The Adjusting Screw measures 6.1 mm long.  The Contacts measure 4.8 mm OD.  The shape and dimension of the Cam is as shown in ILL. 1C1.

XWX-WK-04, as shown in FIG. 1D and ILL. 1D, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Terminals and Shaft.  The Shaft measures 23 mm long.

XWX-WK-05, as shown in FIG. 1E and ILL. 1E, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Terminals and Shaft.  The Shaft measures 29 mm long.

XWX-WK-06, as shown in FIG. 1F and ILL. 1F, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Adjusting Screw, Terminals, Cam, Top Plate and Shaft.  The Adjusting Screw measures 5 mm long.  The shape and dimension of the Cam is as shown in ILL. 1F1.  There is a 3 mm OD and 10.3 mm long brass stick attached to the Cam.  The Shaft measures 12 mm long.  This model is also provided with an aluminum piece attached to the bottom of the Bimetal for quick heating. 

XWX-WK-07, as shown in FIG. 1G and ILL. 1G, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Adjusting Screw and Shaft.  The Adjusting Screw measures 6 mm long, and the Shaft measures 16 mm long.

XWX-WK-08, as shown in FIG. 1H and ILL. 1H, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Terminals, Top Plate and Cam.  The Top Plate doesn’t have a tab.  The Cam is made of brass, measures 9.5 mm OD, 6.5 mm ID, 6.9 mm tall, with an integral up-pointing tab measures 4 mm by 3 mm by 1.5 mm thick.  A steel lug measures 3.2 mm by 4.1 mm by 1.2 mm is welded to the side of Shaft to serve as knob stop.

XWX-WK-09, as shown in FIG. 1I and ILL. 1I, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Terminals, Top Plate, Shaft and Cam.  The Top Plate doesn’t have a tab.  The Cam is made of brass, overall measures 9.5 mm OD, 6.5 mm ID, 10 mm tall, with an integral up-pointing tab measures 3.5 mm by 2 mm by 1.2 mm thick.  The Cam is threaded outside.  A hex nut is screwed onto the Cam.  A steel lug measures 3.3 mm by 11 mm by 0.8 mm thick is welded to the side of Shaft to serve as knob stop.  Adjusting Screw is not provided with this model.

XWX-WK-10, as shown in FIG. 1J and ILL. 1J, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Terminals, Shaft and Top Plate.  The Shaft measures 9 mm long.  This model is provided with an aluminum mounting plate on the bottom.

XWX-WK-11, as shown in FIG. 1K and ILL. 1K, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Adjusting Screw, Terminals, Shaft, Cam and Top Plate.  The Adjusting Screw measures 6.1 mm long.  The Shaft measures 14.3 mm long.  The shape and dimension of Cam is as shown in ILL. 1K1.  This model is provided with an aluminum mounting plate on the bottom.

XWX-WK-12, as shown in FIG. 1L and ILL. 1L, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Terminals, Cam and Shaft.  The Shaft measures 18.5 mm long.  The shape and dimension of Cam is as shown in ILL. 1L1.

XWX-WK-13, as shown in FIG. 1M and ILL. 1M, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Terminals, Cam, Top Plate, and Shaft.  The Shaft measures 15 mm long.  The shape and dimension of Cam is shown in ILL. 1M1. 

XWX-WK-14, as shown in FIG. 1N and ILL. 1N, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except for the shape and/or dimension of the Adjusting Screw, Cam, Top Plate, Terminals and Shaft.  The Adjusting Screw measures 6.1 mm long.  The Shaft measures 16 mm long.  The shape and dimension of the Cam is as shown in ILL. 1N1.

XWX-WK-15, as shown in FIG. 1O and ILL. 1O.  It is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except below:

Insulator - Mica, Overall measures 14.5 mm OD by 8 mm ID, 0.5 mm thick.  Sandwiched between Terminal and Stationary Contact Arm, used to insulated the different part of “Y” shape Bimetal.

Bimetal - Manufactured by Foshan Electrical Precision Alloy Co. Ltd., 0.8 mm thick, overall 33.8 mm by 12 mm tapers to 6 mm wide by 2.8 mm high.  Provide with a 7 mm ID hole at one end to engage Eyelet, and a 2 mm ID hole at the other end to engage Pointer.  Also provided with a 2.4 mm wide gap to form Bimetal to “Y” shape.  Sandwiched between Terminal and Stationary Contact Arm.  Refer ILL.1O1 for detailed shape and dimension.

Pointer - Ceramic, overall 3 mm OD, 7.0 mm long, secured into the hole on Bimetal by glue.

XWX-WK-16, as shown in FIG. 1P and ILL. 1P.  It is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except additional provided:

Resistance Wire - Stainless Steel.  Overall measures 21 by 4.8 mm wide, 0.25 mm thick.  Sandwiched between Terminal and Stationary Contact Arm.

XWX-WK-17, as shown in FIG. 1Q and ILL. 1Q, is similar to model XWX-WK-03A, except below:

 Top Plate - Plated steel, 1.5 mm thick, overall 32 mm by 35 mm by 8 mm high.  Provided with a 6.8 mm diameter opening at one end for Sleeve, and the other 5.7 mm diameter opening at the other end for Eyelet.

Bimetal - Manufactured by Foshan Electrical Precision Alloy Co. Ltd., 0.8 mm thick, overall 33.8 mm by 12 mm tapers to 6 mm wide by 2.8 mm high.  Provide with a 8 mm ID hole at one end to engage Eyelet, and a 2 mm ID hole at the other end to engage Pointer.  Sandwiched between Insulator and Stationary Contact Arm.

Insulator - Mica, Overall measures 14.5 mm OD by 8 mm ID, 0.5 mm thick.  Sandwiched between Resistance Wire and Bimetal.

1. Adjusting Screw - steel, overall 3 mm diameter, 8.1 mm long, threaded to the Shaft

2. Shaft - Plated steel, overall 6.3 mm OD, 22 mm long, threaded to the Cam.

3. Stop Lug - plated steel, overall measures 11 mm by 3.3 mm by 0.8 mm thick.  Welded to the side of the Shaft.

4. Cam - Brass, Shaped as shown.  Measures 18 mm tall, 9 mm OD.  Integral tab measures 3.6 mm by 2.3 mm by 1 mm thick to serve as Shaft stop.  Retained in the hexagon hole on Top Plate.

5. Hexagon Screw - Brass, measures 7.6 mm long each side, 3.6 mm tall and 10 mm ID.  Installed outside the Cam.

6. Top Plate - Plated steel, 1.5 mm thick, overall 14 mm by 31 mm.  One hexagon hole to secure the Cam, and one 7 mm ID round hole to secure the Eyelet.

7. Pin - Ceramic, 3.4 mm OD, 12.2 mm long, held in place between Shaft and Short Spring.

8. Insulator Rings - Ceramic, three provided, 15 mm OD, 10 mm ID.  Two measure 2.5 mm thick, and the other one measures 5 mm thick.

9. Terminals - Plated steel, two provided, each 0.8 mm thick, 6.3 mm wide.  Overall 30 mm long, including a 9.8 mm ID hole at one end to engage the Sleeve.

10. Upper Spring - Stainless steel, 0.2 mm thick, overall 46 mm by 14 mm with a 5.5 mm ID hole for Pin and a 9.8 mm ID hole to engage the Sleeve. Supports one contact.

11. Contacts - Silver and Copper, two provided, each overall 5.5 mm OD and 1.3 mm thick.

12. Lower Spring - Stainless steel, 0.5 mm thick.  Overall 55 mm by 14 mm with a 9.8 mm ID hole at one end to engage the Sleeve.  The other end is bended to support the PC Plate.  Supports one contact

13. Pointer - Ceramic, Shape as shown.  Overall measures 8.4 mm long.  Pushing point measures 2.4 mm OD.  Secured to the Bimetal by the Pad.

15. Bimetal - Manufactured by Foshan Electrical Precision Alloy Co. Ltd., Type 8105, 0.8 mm thick, overall 40 mm by 12.5 mm with a 7 mm ID hole to engage the Eyelet and a 4 mm ID hole to engage the Pointer.

16. Eyelet - Plated steel, 6.9 mm OD, 18 mm long, with integral 1.5 mm thick by 14 mm OD lip at one end to support Bimetal.  Edge at the opposite end press fit to Top Plate.

17. Sleeve - Ceramic, 9.4 mm OD, 7 mm ID and 12 mm long. 

18. PC Plate - R/C (QMFZ2), manufactured by E I DUPONT DE NEMOURS & CO INC, Type FR531, rated V-0, 155 ºC (File E41938).  Shaped as shown.  Overall measures 33.3 mm by 18.5 mm by 2.5 mm thick.  One end is shaped as a hook.  Secured to the Lower Spring by rivet. 

19. Hammer – Plated steel, shape as shown.  Overall measures 14.2 mm OD and 21.8 mm long.  Secured to the hook of the PC Plate.
