Star anise(scientific name: lllicium verum),is also called fennel, it belongs to a plant. Its dry fruit is one of Chinese and Southeast Asia cooking sauces. The fruit of anise is picked in autumn and winter, when it is dry ,it turns red brown or yellow brown. It smells fragrant and sweet, and can be used completely or make powder.

The way of using seasoning :
