The carboxyl-modified vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymers are

made specifically for the

formulation of coatings having excellent adhesion to various

substrates, especially metals, cellulosics,and certain plastics.

A high molecular weight resin containing approximately 85 percent

vinyl chloride, 14percent

vinyl acetate, and 1 percent maleic acid; VAMA solution vinyl resin

is usually dissolved in  relatively strong solvent/diluent

combinations,such as 50 percent ketone/50 percent aromatichydrocarbon, to produce solutions of 20 to 22percent solids. VAMA

solution vinylresin is used primarily for air-dry finishes, such as

maintenance, marine, and metal coatings, and is often used to make

heat-sealable packaging coatings.
