Modified PTFE is harder than ordinary PTFE, so it can be machined more easily; modified PTFE machined parts resist wear better than standard PTFE parts. Modified PTFE can be calendared in thin sections to create a nearly optically clear fiuoropolymer film with the other desirable characteristics of PTFE (inert, wide temperature operating range, great insulating characteristics, resists permeation, non-toxic and non-contaminating, and nothing sticks to it).
