Water level meter is low cost and designed for use in narrow diameter tubes, as small as 38 (10 mm). The stainless steel coaxial cable has a heavy duty polyethylene jacket and markings permanently bonded to the cable every 5 ft or 1 m, and 1 ft or 0.5 m. Narrow diameter probes in 14" or 38" (6 mm or 10 mm) are available with segmented weights to aid deployment.

When the probe enters water, the water completes an electrical circuit powered by a 9v battery, sending a signal back to the reel where a light and clearly audible buzzer are activated. The water level is then determined by taking a reading off the cable at the top of the borehole, casing or tube, and then measuring off to the nearest mark.
