GENERAL REQUIREMENT LV power cables will be PVC/XLPE insulated cables manufactured in accordance with IEC 60502 having stranded, copper conductors, PVC/XLPE insulation , separation tapes and black PVC sheath, with galvanized steel tape/wire armour and black PVC outer sheath.
DETAILED REQUIREMENTS
Cable Construction The cables are multi-conductor assemblies, as specified.
Conductors (core) Conductors for voltage cable shall be Class 2, annealed stranded copper in accordance with IEC 60228.
Insulation The insulation shall be cross-linked polyethylene (PVC/XLPE) for Power Cable. The average insulation thickness for power cables shall not be less than the nominal values specified in Tables III and IV of IEC 60502.
Bedding (inner covering and fillers) Multi-conductor cables shall have bedding, which shall be suitable for the specified operating temperature and insulating material.
Armor
All multi-conductor cables shall be provided with galvanized steel/Aluminum tape/wire amour. The maximum amour voltage to ground shall not exceed 25 V. The amour shall be impervious to attack by termites, rats and other vermin.
Outer Jacket
All cables shall be provided with Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) outer jackets . All cables shall be permanently identified by permanent surface printing or indenting (not to exceed 15 % of the outer jacket thickness) to show the following: Manufacturer’s Name Rated Circuit Voltage 1,Conductor Size 2,Number of Conductors 3,Insulation Material (not trade name) 4,Jacket Material (not trade name) 5,Year of Manufacture The distance between the end of one complete set of marks and the beginning of the next shall not exceed 500 mm. All marking shall be legible and shall be made with clours in contrast with the outer jacket clour.
