Credit data transfered from a point of sale (POS) or vending system is made into a numeric token in a 20 digit number using the Standard Transfer Specification (STS) encryption techniques, which comply with IEC62055 protocol.

The token is entered into the meter via a keypad, optical port as an alternative.
