Sieve Tray
Sieve Trays is made from a flat perforated plate which allows the passage of vapor through the liquid. To overcome the problems with the bubble-cap tray, the sieve tray was developed. Sieve tray has almost the opposite characteristics of the bubble-cap tray. It is inexpensive to male. With proper design, it has low pressure drop, fairly good capacity and efficiency. However, its turn down ratio often does not meet flexibility demanded by the operating facility.
Sieve tray designs probably provide the majority of installed tray types used in the hydrocarbon industry and the oil and gas industry and are widely accepted due to their excellent operating characteristics, low cost Investment and low maintenance requirements

Advantages:
(1)their excellent operating characteristics, low pressure drop with average capacity & separation efficiency;
(2) a small fall of liquid level on the tray;
(3) simple structure;
(4) the most economical tray and low maintenance requirements;
(5)They have better anti-fouling characteristics and lower pressure drop than valve or bubble cap trays
Disadvantages:
small operating flexibility, easy blockage in case of small sieve pores, and high requirements on design.
