 long-staple cotton: Long staple cotton has higher requirements for the growing environment, such as abundant light supply, high temperature, fertile soil, and adequate irrigation. As the growing period is usually 10-15 days longer than general short-staple cotton, long-staple cotton has many superior characteristics.

The fiber of long-staple cotton ranges from 1 1/2 inches to 2 1/4 inches while short-staple cottons are about half the length. Because of the extensive length, it can be spun into very fine yarns which are softer, lustrous, stronger and more durable than short-staple cotton. Additionally, long-staple cotton is highly absorbent. This means that when the fabric is dyed the final product produced will maintain its vibrant colors longer than other cotton counterparts.
