What is chirimen (silk crepe)?

“Chirimen” is a plain-woven silk fabric.Plain weaving is a process of weaving where the warp and weft are interwoven in an alternating pattern.

What is Tango crepe?(From the Tango Textile Industrial Association homepage)Tango crepe is made of an untwisted silk warp interwoven with a weft twisted almost 3,000 times over a distance of one meter. The threads are then contracted through a refining process and the weft's twists bunch up, forming a bumpy texture across the surface of the fabric. This special bumpy texture is the most notable feature of Tango crepe, which is the most representative style of crepe weaves. Crepe resists wrinkling because of its pattern of bumps, has a supple texture, and the diffuse reflection caused by the micro-bumps results in deep, rich colors when the fabric is dyed.
