1. Kaplan Turbine  is used in power stations with water head of 2-30m, and it is equipped with vertical axis.

2. There are three different types of Kaplan:

(1)an open trough

(2)apressure trough

(3)closed concrete worm-shell trough.

3. Kaplan turbine is suitable for small hydro power stations with low head and load.
